![]() ![]() While the guitar’s label lists a completion date of late November 2021, the inside of the top has a pencilled date of February 11, 2021, and a signature.īeing a new guitar, this example has not developed its voice or projection, but it is full, rich and responsive. Unfortunately there is of wear on the top from playwear and fingernail marks thus the reduced price. ![]() The finish is French Polish, like many of de Jonge’s instruments. The top is X-braced, unusual for a classical model. The top is Torrefied Spruce, and the sides, 3-piece back and head plate are Bolivian Rosewood – not an endangered or listed species. A full 650mm scale length is used, with a 51mm nut width. It carries an elevated fingerboard- actually the body tapers down, away from the fingerboard – allowing significantly improved upper-fret access. This de Jonge Classical is a modern take on the classical style. Sergei de Jonge has been building and teaching guitar building for many years and like a number of premiere Canadian builders, was one of Jean Larrivee’s early apprentices.
